Our family has a long tradition of fine wine making in the Barossa. Jim Irvine, a veteran of more than 60 vintages in various capacities, his wife and business partner Marjorie and their winemaker daughter Joanne take pride in every aspect of viticulture and winemaking at irvine wines. It truly is a family affair.The dream became a reality when in 1980 we purchased the Springhill Eden Valley property, high in the ranges above the Barossa Valley, an area known for its distinctive qualities. Springhill has its own terrior. Its location, climate, the Barossan culture plus the contemporary winemaking interpretation of classic styles, combine to make the Irvine experience unique. Whilst several varieties are grown at Springhill, for Jim, the passion truly lies in Merlot. He and Joanne, who is one of Eden Valley's most innovative winemakers, continue to bring out the best of varietal characters together with distinct regionality.
